The employee will provide recovery-oriented services as outlined by the Texas Administrative Code and in accordance with the Texas Health and Human Service Commission Resiliency and Recovery Management principles. Specifically – the employee will provide services to eligible individuals that have been referred by the MHMR Jail Liaison. The focus of services includes jail diversion, linkage to appropriate mental health outpatient services, stabilization of symptoms, reduction of recidivism, and the development of self-advocacy skills. The employee will coordinate with jail staff, magistrates and court staff with identifying individuals for treatment. The employee will provide a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach and Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorder (COPSD) services as applicable. Complying with TCOOMMI Guidelines, this employee with facilitate the transition of offenders with mental illness into the community from their jail release. The employee will act as a liaison to TDCJ, Tom Green County Jail, and district courts. This employee will also be trained with working in other TCOOMMI programs to provide TCOOMMI coverage as needed. The employee will implement the principles of trauma-informed care including culture sensitivity in all areas of service delivery.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: License Professional Counselor Intern (LPC-I) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker Intern (LCSWI) credentials preferred. Must pass a NCIS and TCIS criminal Background check prior to employment. Valid Texas driver’s license and must be insurable on the Center’s insurance. No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Prefer 2 years’ experience in a similar position. A working knowledge of the Criminal Justice and court systems will be considered. Education may be considered in lieu of experience. Must be capable of using Microsoft Office products including: excel, Outlook, and Word. Strong organizational skills. Ability to self-monitor production and quality. A demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to clearly communicate sensitive information both orally and in writing. Demonstrate the ability to work closely with all levels of service providers in an atmosphere of teamwork. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
