Staff Development/Community Relations Manager

Description:

This position’s responsibilities are divided into Staff Development and Community Relations. Staff Development duties include organizing, scheduling, facilitating and, in some cases, delivering training to Center employees and others in specific areas such as new employee orientation, refresher training, on-going training, specialized training and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) activities at the Center. This position will oversee staff development for the Center by creating a framework of educational/training services that promote the growth and development of staff. In addition, the management and development of MHFA requirements will be a priority.  Community Relations responsibilities focus will be on planning, developing and implementing community relations campaigns, marketing efforts and related events.  Emphasis will be placed on the use of social media to coordinate community relations and provide education to stakeholders as well as organizing community outreach programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in education, business organizational development or related fields.

Prefer a minimum of two years’ experience in education (teaching), providing staff development training and/or development of training curricula. Background in education/teaching profession is desired. Prior leadership/management experience preferred. Two years of work in public relations or at least two years of work in a field related to the company preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurable on the Center’s liability policy
  • Certified as PMAB, CPR/First Aid and MHFA instructors or willing to become certified as trainer/instructor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Considerable knowledge of community organization and administration and general principles of public and human relations.
  • Strong computer skills including a familiarity with database programs and proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work proficiently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong presentation skills (teacher and presenter).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness and professionalism.
  • Ability to build strong community relationships.
  • Create marketing material and assure that all material offered to the community enhances Center’s public image.

Ability to always maintain confidentiality

Salary: $3,939.00 Monthly
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm routinely with exceptions for special events
