The Adult Mental Health LVN II performs nursing services to consumers authorized to received Med Training services. Work involves assisting individuals with maintaining their physical health and mental well-being with the goal of community integration. Responsibilities include medication monitoring; assistance with prescribing staff, and rehab and case management needs as indicated. The LVN will assist with medication, answer the Nurse Hotline, med counts, PAP applications, lab referrals and other clinically indicated tasks. Updating paperwork is also essential. The LVN will work in all areas of Adult Mental Health while promoting the best environment for patient recovery while being supervised by the Adult Mental Health Lead Registered Nurse. The employee will implement the principles of trauma-informed care including cultural sensitivity in all areas of service delivery.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse program accredited by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Licensed to practice as an LVN in the state of Texas. Valid Texas Class “C” driver’s license required. Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance. No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, must have proof of current liability insurance.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Experience working with people who have mental illness is preferred. Working knowledge of clinical/nursing practices and procedures. Ability to apply professional nursing skills, techniques, and methods. Knowledge of medical office procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of resources used on the job, such as medical reference and drug books. Ability to read and interpret physician’s orders. Ability to plan, organize and perform work in an efficient and timely manner. Ability to perform work requiring attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively, to exercise good judgment, and to establish good relationships with patients and coworkers. Demonstrated, either through experience or education, ability to work in a rapid pace environment in an organized and professional manner. Ability to self-monitor production and quality with minimal assistance. Basic knowledge and familiarity with business software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. The ability to work as a team member in a diverse environment interfacing with both internal and external customers/providers.
