The File Clerk I Duties include: Scanning documents into the electronic clinical record (HCS, TxHmL, GR); Filing documents in their corresponding charts (HCS, TxHmL, GR); Creating new charts; Copies documents and/or other material as requested; Reviews records to assure proper documentation is in the chart; Thinning of the chart; Shredding of documents; Security oversight; Monitoring of paperwork (including the collection and monitoring of the HCS, TxHmL, and GR Community Support Service Delivery Logs and data entry). The File Clerk I provides all services in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code and Provider Billing Guidelines for HCS and TxHmL as well as the DADS Performance Contract and Data Verification Manual for GR services. Willing to accept other and additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. The File Clerk I works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The File Clerk I works under the supervision of the IDD Clinical Records Manager. Willing to accept other and additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited High School or G.E.D certificate issued in accordance with the Texas law. Some business or commercial college preferred.
EXPERIENCE: One-year experience clerical and/or work preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid Texas Driver’s License is required; must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years. Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Excellent customer service skills. Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail. Demonstrate the ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment. Effective multi-tasking skills; outstanding organizational skills. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Ability to work with special population. Ability to establish good working relationships with professional clinical staff and communicate effectively. Knowledge of clerical functions including working with a multi-line system, personal computer, and office equipment. Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
