Description:

The Behavioral Health Jail Liaison performs Mental Health assessments at the Tom Green County Jail in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Subchapter G. Assessments are provided to designated jail personnel that provides a recommendation for a level of supervision an inmate should receive while in custody. The primary role for the Jail Liaison is to complete a face-to-face assessment for every inmate that presents with symptoms of mental illness, is in a behavioral health crisis, or is identified as an individual who has previously been arrested/incarcerated and received past mental health services. The jail liaison may assist in crisis services as needed.

Additional duties may include participating with group therapy at the Tom Green County Juvenile Detention Center.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor or advanced Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral, or human service field including psychology, social work, sociology, human development, criminal justice.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:  Valid Texas driver’s license and must be insurable on the Center’s insurance. No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.  A Qualified Mental Health Professional employed by the Local Mental Health Authority (LMHA).

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Demonstrated, either through experience or education, ability to work in a rapid pace environment in an organized and professional manner.  Ability to self-monitor production and quality with minimal assistance.  Basic knowledge and familiarity with data systems including business software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to develop productive relationships with individuals and family members that focus on individual specific outcomes. Ability to recognize barriers and coordination issues between service systems, and to advocate effectively for individuals served. Organization and typing skills are a must. The ability to work as a team member in a diverse environment interfacing with both internal and external customers.

Salary: $17.00 (hourly wage) Part Time
Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and Thursdays 1:30-2:30 (or as agreed upon)
