Assistant IDD Service Coordinator provides supervision, leadership, support and guidance to Service Coordinators under the direction of the IDD Service Coordinator Supervisor. Will provide direction under the Service Coordinator functions rule in the Texas Administrative Code, 40 TAC, Chapter 2, Subchapter L: Service Coordination for Individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. Supervision duties include: assuring that the development of each assigned consumer's Person Directed Plan is individualized, outcome oriented and meets DADS guidelines; monitors service coordination's documentations, PDP activity, will help monitor CARE for IPC's and ID/RC's as well as data entry for both, ensures corrections to encounter data are completed and overlaps are corrected in a timely manner, and assures service coordinators make monthly contacts with each assigned consumers; resolves issues/concerns that may arise; and assures established timeframes are adhered to. "Hands-On" approach to supervision required. The Assistant Supervisor will carry a small caseload. People skills are a must. The position will closely work with private and public providers of Home and Community-Based Services as well as the IDD Service Coordinator Supervision.
EDUCATION: Bachelor or advanced Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a social, behavioral, or human service field including, but not limited to psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology, educational psychology, education and criminal justice.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid Texas driver's license and must be insurable on the Center's insurance. No more than three moving violations in the last three years.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Demonstrated, either through experience or education, ability to work in a rapid pace environment in an organized and professional manner. Ability to self-monitor production and quality. Knowledge and familiarity with data systems including business software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to develop productive relationships with individuals and family members that focus on individual specific outcomes. Ability to recognize barriers and coordination issues between service systems, and to advocate effectively for individuals served. Organizational and typing skills are a must. The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. The ability to work as a team leader/member in a diverse environment interfacing with both public and private provides.
