(HealthDay News) -- You can minimize the fear of going to the dentist, experts say.

The American Dental Association suggests:

  • Talk to your dentist about your anxiety. He or she can make accommodations to make you feel more at ease.
  • Schedule your appointment a time when you're not rushed or stressed, perhaps early on a weekday morning or on a Saturday.
  • Bring a pair of headphones and listen to your favorite music during your appointment.
  • Visualize yourself in a relaxing, comfortable place during the visit.
